Prospective adoptive parents currently in an international adoption process through a Hague Convention country must complete 10 total hours of parent education. Great Wall’s Online Hague Parent Education Courses provide an easy and comprehensive training program on all required topics and meet the guidelines of the Hague Adoption Convention.
To better serve our families, we have added two new courses to our online course catalog: "The Waiting Child" and "Adopting the Older Child."
The Waiting Child
The purpose this online course is to provide prospective adoptive parents with information on and preparation for adopting a child through a Waiting Child (or Special Needs) program. This course will provide information on the general characteristics and needs of children awaiting adoption, medical descriptions of the needs and resources and information to consider when adoption a Waiting Child. This course provides families with 2 hours of Hague Parent Education Training. Upon review of this course, families will complete a brief Q and A in order to receive a course completion certificate.
Adopting the Older Child
The objective of this course is to provide families with information and resources to consider when adopting an older child. The intent is to provide the opportunity for families to explore this as an option and prepare for the challenges and differences.This course provides 1.5 hours of adoption training. Upon review of this course, families will complete a brief Q and A in order to receive a course completion certificate.
