Children of All Nations Opens New Ghana Intercountry Adoption Program
Children of All Nations (CAN), a division of Great Wall China Adoption, is pleased to announce today the opening of our newest intercountry adoption program in Ghana, West Africa. This program continues the mission of Children of All Nations to find forever families for orphans around the globe.
With over 1 million children estimated to be orphans in the country of Ghana alone, CAN is happy to begin recruiting families who adopt these children to be their own, while providing exceptional service to the families who hope to find their child in this peaceful, friendly African country.
Ghana is the fourth intercountry adoption program opened this year by CAN, and fourteenth program overall. Given the staggering number of orphans in the country in need of homes, and the success the Ghanaian Department of Social Welfare has had placing many children for both domestic and intercountry adoption, CAN is excited to begin working with families to adopt a child from Ghana.
Ghana’s orphaned and abandoned children, despite several government-run and private social welfare programs in the country, are at an extremely high risk for child labor, abuse, disease and malnutrition when living in institutions or the streets. The Department of Social Welfare actively works to help de-institutionalize children with these social welfare programs, but the majority of children still remain at risk until being placed with a permanent family. By helping the Department of Social Welfare place more of these children with their forever families, CAN hopes to make an impact on the plight of orphans not only in Ghana, but all of Africa. Ghana is now the fifth Africa adoption program CAN offers.
Great Wall & Children of All Nations is a Hague-accredited adoption agency, uniting over 8,000 children with forever families since 1996 and bettering life for children left behind in orphanages. Children of All Nations continues to develop new intercountry adoption programs in hopes that every orphan will find a permanent, loving family and educate families in preparation for adoption.

Children of All Nations Announces the Launch of their Newest Adoption Program in Peru
October 15, 2010 – AUSTIN, TEXAS – Children of All Nations (CAN), operated by Great Wall China Adoption, a division of America’s leading international adoption agency, today announced the launch of a Peruvian adoption partnership, facilitated under the Peruvian Ministry of Women and Social Development (MIMDES). CAN is dedicated in placing children around the world and giving humanitarian aid on a global scale.
CAN has a wonderful relationship with MIMDES and have facilitators who are dedicated to create a smooth adoption process in Peru. “We are excited to begin our Peru adoption program,” said Snow Wu, President and CEO of CAN. “With months of preparation, Peru is our second Latin American country we are working with.”
Adoptable Peruvian children are available because of economics in that country and a high poverty rate. Children in need of placement are:
• Children with special needs and health problems
• Sibling groups with two or more children
• Children 5 and older
The number of children adopted from Peru has recently increased, thanks in part to the efficient re-organization of the adoption process by Peru’s National Secretary of Adoption (SNA). CAN is accredited to place children through Peru’s Waiting Angels program, which gives preference to children with special needs. In 2009, 75 Waiting Angels were adopted from Peru, and the SNA hopes to surpass that total for 2010. The new CAN adoption program will work to help Peru reach that goal.
