Educating Children in Nepal (sponsored by CAN Staff)

Name:  Sher Singh Shahu

Date of Birth: June 6, 1997

Family Background:  Sher Singh Shahu is an inhabitant of Katai Village Development Committee, Ward No-04, Mulla of Darchula District.  His father, Mr. Jaman Singh Shaua, and his mother, Mrs. Hira Devi Shahu, are indebted for a small piece of land in the village.  His father has a small tea show on the roadside of the village, and his mother works in the fields.  Their financial situation is poor.

Home Conditions:  Sher’s family condition is very poor.  He has two sisters, four brothers, his grandmother and his parents all living in the same house.  Due to the poor financial condition, it has been very difficult for the family to support their children’s education.

Educational Record:  Sher Singh Shahu has been admitted at “Darchula Public School” in Khalanga, Darchula under ECN program April 2010.  He has been selected under the terms set for this scholarship program.

Special Interest:  Sher likes studying.

Future Plan: Sher plans to be an engineer
